Ned points the way ahead for super Saints

A SIXTH-MINUTE poacher's strike by Ned O'Keeffe set St Andrews Under-13s on their way to a 5-2 victory over Shirehampton in the Fountains Trophies Cup at Eastville.

Further goals by Josh Butt (2), O'Keeffe and Kristian Richards saw off spirited Shire's challenge.

Thornbury Town won 5-3 at Tytherington Rocks in the same competition, while impressive performances by Tom Wistow, Sam Youngman and Aidan Slattery, all promoted from the club's B team, weren't enough to prevent a 4-0 defeat for Bishopston A by Gordano Valley Giants.

Kris Carr, Ollie Williams, Ben Lawes and Paul Truscelli all battled well for Bishopston.

Golden Hill Sonics twice came from behind to secure their place in the quarter-finals with a point from a 3-3 draw with Ingleside. Rob Grant and Wenzil Woltersdorf were both on target, with an own goal completing their tally

Ingleside, whose goals came from Dean Howlett, Mohamed Sarbast and Abdirahman Ali Nur, must beat Gordano by seven clear goals in order to progress to the last eight.

In the Under-13s B section, Hamish Dron scored four goals for Redland Raiders in a 6-1 success against Icthus, whose consolation strike came from Sam McGregor. Redland also hit the post six times and missed six guilt-edged chances, as well as a penalty!

Thornbury Town B and Bishopston Uunited B contested a league and cup double-header arranged to ease the fixture congestion.

The first encounter saw the sides share the points from a 2-2 draw. Owen Risby and an own goal gave Bishopston a 2-0 lead before two super goals from Louis Ogilvie pulled Thornbury level.

Isaac Wales, Archie Lock and Olls Warren all made sound contributions for Bishopston, while Felix Brittain, Jake Goodridge and Aidan Hannyngton caught the eye in midfield for Thornbury.

The cup match followed and despite creating several chances, Bishopston were beaten 3-0.

Finlay Langford made some fine saves as his Golden Hill Sonics Under-11s side swept to a 3-0 away victory over Buccaneers Whites, while Jayden Hakke (2), Elias Fry and Tom Gregory were on target as Brislington won 4-2 at Ingleside.

Joey Tulloch-Martin (2), Raul Gibson and Sonny Singh saw Westbury Park Foxes Whites to a 4-1 win at Shirehampton, who created chances in the second half, only to be denied by great defending from Harri Talfan-Davies and Seb Vickerman, and excellent keeping by Owen Paton.

Elsewhere, leaders Buccaneers Reds won 2-1 at Stoke Lane, whose scorer was Ethan Ansell.
