Around 750,000 people visited the museum since it opened – half a million more people than expected.
"Its lovely for children, very hands on a that's what children want," said visitor David Southwood.
"And it's free so you can dip in and out come back lots of times and see something different every time."
June White from Easton said: "I think it's excellent – you need to come lots of times. It's a nice setting and the exhibits are beautiful."
Claire Crago, from Nailsea, brought her two children Emily and Ben.
"It's good, really interesting," she said. "When you've grown up in Bristol it's interesting to see things from the past."
The museum doesn't just attract Bristolians though.
Andy Gittins visiting from Shrewsbury said: "It's the first time we've been here – It's really good though we haven't seen it all yet."
Built on the site of the old industrial museum the M shed has already won a string of accolades and nominations for prestigious national and European awards.

This weekend the M shed is celebrating with two days of fun, free events in M shed square including Skates and Bikes with competitions and demonstrations by Crucial BMX and Fifty Fifty, harbour trips on The John King and on Sunday the Big Make, a recycling, sculpture workshop.
