Bristol City boss Derek McInnes handed Mark Wilson a debut in today's npower Championship curtain-raiser at Nottingham Forest.
Signed on a short-term contract on Thursday night, the former Celtic defender was allowed to play only after the Robins received international clearance just hours before kick-off at the City Ground.
Right-back Wilson was one of four changes to a back five that was exposed by Gillingham in the first round of the Capital One League Cup in midweek.
Former Cardiff goalkeeper Tom Heaton was preferred to Dean Gerken and made his debut between the sticks, as did fellow new signing Greg Cunningham, who lined up at left-back.
Now fully recovered from a hip- injury, veteran defender Louis Carey came in for Lewin Nyatanga to partner Liam Fontaine at the heart of the back four.
McInnes opted for a defensively strong midfield, moving right-back Richard Foster into a more advanced role and returning Cole Skuse to the engine room alongside Stephen Pearson and Martyn Woolford.
Winger Albert Adomah was deployed in a more central attacking role just behind lone striker Jon Stead.
Forest gave debuts to Dan Harding, Danny Collins and Greg Halford, but were without new signing Daniel Ayala and left £2m striker Simon Cox on the bench.
