MPi (http://www.MPiWorldClass.com), a leading provider of revenue and retention solutions for automotive dealership service departments, today announced that its nationwide contest for auto technicians, ?REV it UP?, was a huge success. 7,000 technicians entered from 455 auto dealerships across the nation.

Two years ago the company started ?REV it UP?, a series of four races designed to test technicians? skills and speed using MPi?s state-of-the-art software system, EDGE WorldClass? for their vehicle inspection process. The competition has filled a real need and proven extremely popular. The final race was held last weekend at Lexus of Henderson, NV, with Sean Fitzgerald from Dick Hannah Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM of Vancouver, WA, taking the winning spot.

As the national finalist, Fitzgerald walked away with $5,000 cash from MPi, a $5,500 scan tool from OTC, and two Grand Prize custom trophies, one for Fitzgerald and one to proudly display in his dealership. Fitzgerald additionally received a NASCAR race ticket weekend at Texas Motor Speedway in April, from Phyzix Automotive. Phyzix also provided VIP passes for two, pit passes, airfare and accommodations.

Fitzgerald, who has served as a technician at Dick Hannah Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM for the past year and a half, is relatively new to the profession, being just 22 years of age. He did well to beat out more seasoned technicians. When asked how he prepared for the contest, Fitzgerald replied: ?I did train, but not in your typical rocky sense. I worked on an order in which to fluently move through the vehicle to make the most efficient use of my inspection time. Utilizing your inspection time is the key to letting your trained eye catch the things that if rushed, would be overlooked or missed.?

The other four regional finalists were:

  • Ronald Paulino of Warren Henry Volvo, Miami, FL
  • Enes Duheric of Volvo of Oak Park, Oak Park, IL
  • Tom Warshefski of Pinnacle Nissan, Scottsdale, AZ
  • George Zygmaniak of Acura of Ocean, Ocean, NJ

Each won a cash prize of $1,000 and an OTC Nemisys? scan tool valued at $1,349.
?I?m very impressed by the level of skill we have seen in this contest and my congratulations go out to the winners. It?s quite something to come out at the top of more than 7,000 entrants from 455 dealerships. We are thrilled by the response to Rev it UP, it seems to fill a real need and we look forward to continuing the technician challenge. This race really achieved its purpose of exciting and engaging Fixed Operations to raise their game, which ultimately makes their customers the real winners,? said Rich Holland, MPi president.
